How your thinking rating works
Your rating shows where your thinking is strong and where it can grow, in seven areas: Reasoning, Verbal, Spatial, Numerical, Working Memory, Recall and Speed.
The idea
- You and every puzzle start at 1500.
- Score better than expected for your rating and you go up; score worse and you go down. Hard puzzles move you more.
- Puzzles are rated too: one most people solve drifts easier, one that beats people drifts harder.
- Example: a player rated 1600 beats a 1500 puzzle about 64% of the time. Equal ratings, 50%.
- A game that trains several areas shares the change between them. Ratings move fast for your first 20 plays in an area, then settle; under 10 plays they're marked provisional.
- It's a Games140 rating, not an IQ score.
What counts
- Only the daily puzzle, once per game per day. Practice and past puzzles never count, so experiment freely.
- No account? Your rating lives on this device, held between 1000 and 2000. Sign up to keep it.
- Your rating is private. Share cards show your areas and numbers, never the answers.
