How to play Digit Span
- Digits flash one at a time. Then type them back in order and press Check.
- Get it right and the next list is one digit longer. Two misses at the same length end the part.
- Part two is backward: see 4 8 2, type 2 8 4.
Controls. Use the on-screen keypad, or type digits on a keyboard. Backspace deletes, Enter checks.
Scoring
Span is the longest list you typed back correctly. Your score is the forward span plus the backward span, out of 19.
Strategy tips
- Group the digits in twos or threes as they appear, so you hold a few chunks instead of many single digits.
- Say the digits to yourself in a steady rhythm while they show.
- For backward, read the list back from the last digit you saw instead of reversing the whole thing at the end.
The lists are the same for everyone on the same day.
